Converting Department Assistant Foreman

Summary: The Converting Department Assistant Foreman will be responsible for the supervision, direction, and leadership in safety, quality, and productivity.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise daily production activities, including planning, assigning tasks, and providing direction to employees.
  • Train and develop team members, ensuring their performance meets company standards.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork through effective leadership and communication.
  • Communicate operational updates both verbally and in writing to various stakeholders, including crew members, supervisors, management, and customers.
  • Actively promote and ensure compliance with safety, quality and other programs and initiatives utilized within the organization.
  • Full understanding of all Converting department machinery including Pasters, Mill Trimmers, Rotary Slitters, Round Corner Cutters, and Liners – Set-up, operations, troubleshooting and maintenance.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with sales and production departments to review and align production requirements.
  • Allocating personnel from different areas for optimal quality production, leveraging individual strengths.
  • Establishing performance metrics and evaluation reports to maximize workforce efficiency.
  • Regularly reviewing and overseeing work areas to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Managing personnel discipline and maintaining records of warnings related to safety, cooperation, and quality.

 Requirements

  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in paperboard or related industry.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of converting machinery and processes.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Proficiency in coordinating schedules and managing personnel.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment and Drug & Alcohol Test
  • High school or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license.
